Mission: A Misguiding Hand
Location: Somewhere on the planet Brax
Timeline: MD02

On a local cable access channel somewhere on the planet Brax...

"And folks, this is incredible folks, I want to direct your attention to something I picked up on last night. You might have seen something in the sky near where you are, and if you did, you probably heard it was a meteor. That's right folks, nothing to see here, just your standard giant flaming ball of rock crashing to the ground. Well, that's our story for today, see you tomorrow on..."

The man on screen stares at the camera for a moment, then cracks a smile. "Oh come now, you know me better than that."

"We know already that 'something' crashed into the woods in Verdona. But a meteor? Please. The government claims everything is fine only when it wants to hide the exact opposite! They've cordoned off the area, claiming there is a risk of radiation, but what the government is really saying is that they don't want you, the public, to know about what's going on under your very noses!"

The man holds up a hand, and extends a finger with each statement. "FACT! We know something crashed near Verdona. FACT! We know it was not a meteor. FACT! We know the government is hiding something. Just what are they trying to cover up? What really went down? A new kind of stealth plane? A spy satellite? Or is it something worse?"

Dramatic pause. "Aliens."

"That's right - Aliens!" He widens his eyes for emphasis. "And believe me, I know 'serious people' are running to their phones right now to dismiss that 'crackpot' notion. Just like they always do. But you tell me, what else makes sense? We've had meteors before, but never any that called for a turn out by the Regional Confederate Militia Patrol! And if this one is carrying some dangerous sort of radiation, how did the government know so quickly? Who took the readings? Verdona is in the middle of nowhere!"

"Yes, I know what they say." He sits back, takes a breath, and puts on a mocking 'be reasonable' air. "They were tracking this and had the readings from satellites. Why didn't they inform us, their public, of the danger? Oh, well, obviously because they didn't know when or where or if it would hit us and wanted to avoid unnecessary panic..."

He leans in, gesturing and he exclaims, "Feldercarb! If you believe that, I have a field in Verdona to sell you." He flashes a wry grin. "Don't worry, it's only slightly irradiated."
