Following a disheartening mission to make First Contact, the Vesta is sent somewhere a little more its speed. The vessel is deployed to the known region of the Transstellar Relay, where the massive race is set to begin in a little under a week. The intent of Starfleet is to meet with various races in hopes of establishing new, better, relations with some of the neighbours of the region. They have been instructed to modify a Delta Flyer class runabout to compete in the race, as per Voyager's previous entry. Furthermore, the Federation has requested that the Starfleet vessel act as the launching point for the race, to help allow their Diplomatic aids to meet more readily with the gather races.
