USS Vesta

A Play-by-Nova roleplay game.

Welcome to the USS Vesta!

"That is the exploration that awaits you! Not mapping stars and studying nebula, but charting the unknown possibilities of existence."
~Leonard Nimoy

Welcome to the USS Vesta, one of the most advanced ships in Starfleet and the start of a new class of starship designed specifically for the use of the Quantum Slipstream Drive. With an advanced aerodynamic design to reduce her subspace drag to an absolute minimum, even without her Slipstream drive, the Vesta is the fastest ship in the fleet. With a new advent for exploration and a need for ships to go farther than ever before, the ability for the Vesta to cross regions of space faster than any ship before her makes her a prime Explorer for deep space exploration.

Tracing her roots back to the original Faster-Than-Warp project of the Transwarp Drive on the USS Excelsior, the Vesta and her Quantum Slipstream Drive come from the constant pursuit of the Federation, and by extension Starfleet, to make use of the newest, most advanced technology to reach out beyond what is known and into the vast unknown.

With her advanced new propulsion drive however, comes a lot of risk. Many of the other powers within the Alpha and Beta quadrant would go to any lengths to get their hands on the Quantum Slipstream Drive. This has brought a shift in power to the region, one that hasn't been seen since the advent of cloaking technology over two centuries ago.

While not the first voyage of the USS Vesta, she has been a several year long project under the careful eye of the Obsidian Fleet executives, to bring what many considered a failed project to new life. Over the last few years, the Vesta has spent time in dry dock, spending it under heavy testing and retrofitting to bring the latest version of the QSD. Finally ready for relaunch, the Obsidian Fleet has green lit launch.

So if you look to go where no man has gone before, explore new regions of space and don't mind fixing the occasional glitch within the ships advanced, mostly experimental systems, look no further. The Vesta offers men, women and children from all walks of life, a home. A place to hang their jacket above the hearth at the end of the day and to always have a family.

Rating:
The USS Vesta is a 15+ simming community.

ALCON:

To the crew and family of the USS Vesta. I know this discussion was had (at far shorter a length than expected) in our Discord Chat, but I wanted to make it website official. The Vesta has been transferred with all hands to Obsidian Fleet, to move into her new role with 72nd Taskforce, embedded inside Task Group B "Black Ravens". We first and foremost would like to thank Obsidian Fleet for this opportunity, and look forward to joining in on their community. Many of you have already joined the Obsdian Fleet chat, and through a move I was not expecting, departed the Pegasus Fleet. Please note, while in the past we had our disagreements with members of the Fleet, we hold Pegasus in high regard for the home they gave us. We wish them well in their future, and want all members that may find their way here, they will always have a home at our Hearth.

To my crew, my friends, and to some extent, my family: words cannot express the pride you have instilled in me. The fact that the resounding comment from you all was that you followed the sim, not the Fleet, meant a lot. I have served, and commanded, ships in the past, where the Fleet came first, and everything else was secondary. To have the grand majority of you so dedicated to the people that are here, and the expressions of concern that came from some of you; it truly meant a lot. We will continue to be a family, and to grow I am sure. Many of you have noticed that Obsidian Fleet is far more talkative (I can't hardly look away for a second without that notification popping up.) So while our family has been maintained, I am sure we will grow more in the coming months. And I expect we all will only grow as a result.

As for our mission, we are up in the air. The TF-Arc we had before has obviously been abandoned, but that does not mean we cannot continue in the Delta Quadrant, it only means we will see where our future takes us. Unburdened by politics, perhaps we can develop the Republic of the First World, the way we had always wanted to, maybe we can explore more races as we want to. Perhaps we will return to the Federation and the Alpha Quadrant, and from there, explore our own corner of space. All I can say for sure is that it will be an adventure, and I am happy you will all be there for it.

ALCON:

Recently news has been more somber, but I wanted to take a chance to make this a little more positive. I wanted to talk about progress, community, and the future of the Vesta as a whole. So, without further adieu, sit back and relax.

Progress; our simm has been moving along at a smooth pace. I know we are still just touching the edges of the limit of our minimum requirement, but we're a lot better than where we used to be. While I wish I could take credit for that work, I am only a small part in the much bigger machine. You, my team, are what make this all possible, and make this as enjoyable as it has been since we went live in October. Every step we take, every evolving piece that this organic creation has become, it is all thanks to you. All the new players we have added recently, and the veterans that are coming back, we have you to thank for the drive and energy. As we move forward, I only foresee this growing, expanding, and becoming more than it is. We developed our own species, and once I have filtered out the ideas, we will make that publicly available to add more to. Together we grow.

Our community; I cannot begin to say how amazing our community is here team. Our Discord is never quiet (much to the disappointment I am sure to many a significant other), and the conversations, both of the simm and of the things that we love is amazing. We have such a diverse, well rounded, and beautiful team, and for that every single one of you should be proud. As organic as our team is now, that can only be attributed to the flavour and build of our team on the chat. I won't say much more about that, just know how proud I am to work with you.

Our future, where we are going and where we were. Our team has grown from two nerdy guys, to a full fledged group of nerds who make it what it is. We will continue to grow, and we will expand the Pegasus Canon where we can. We have our own amazing race to build and create, our own addition to the Task Force Canon, and of course, all the stories yet undiscovered and untold. I've made a commitment to avoid railroading, which means you will have a deciding stay in every mission and every post you're involved in (within reason). Together this sim will be more of a family than anything else, and we will build each layer of our own story until we can't go any further (we have a few decades to catch up to STO).

With that everyone, have a great night. Sing the praises from the roof tops, and keep up the good owrk.

Regards

ALCON:

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a few house cleaning items to take care of, so I figured I would do all of those at once here on the News. I'll jump right in.

First, to the long list of new crew, welcome! Ensign Soraya Xel and Lieutenants Martin Sorenson and Eiri Ashshy, I hope you find a warm and welcoming family here and are with us for some time. I'm sure you've noticed in some places the plaster is still drying, so be dears and try not to break anything too fast. That being said, you all have already added a flavour to the discord that has been welcomed. This said, with the good I have to recognize the bad; we did have to say good bye to a few crew members due to inactivity or other reasons. It is unfortunate, but we move on. A reminder that we will be, as of February enforcing the 2 posts per player, per month (one every two weeks is ideal).

Next up, Pomp and Circumstance is closed! If you were posting in it, I apologize, but we are moving on to the new mission (albeit a month late), Refined Relations. On the Discord we had a lot of talk about what was happening there, however, now we will start this ball rolling. On Discord we had a long list of roles for all departments to look into, however, if you need anything you can always post with myself or Ewan Darrow, either of which will be happy to assist you. That being said, interact with your fellow players, mess up the science labs, push the shuttles into space, finger paint on the QSD, the world is your oyster.

We are coming along nicely, ladies and gentlemen, just keep up the good work. Great push, and we'll keep it up here, make a name for us.

To The Crew and Families of the Vesta

With a successful shakedown of the Quantum Slipstream Drive completed, and a surprise visit from the starship Enterprise we are underway to the Delta Quadrant. During this we will have about a week and a half before our arrival at the Iota System. We will make a brief, twenty-four hour pause at the centre of the galaxy, were we will take some detailed astronomical surveys, and then continuing on our way. Use this time to get to know each other. We have a diverse and exciting crew, and the chance to get to know one another will benefit us in the future. We have tonnes of exciting new systems to get familiar with, a plethora of research to do, and the fastest ship in the fleet. Explore all of those. Take the chance to develop your characters.

I still want to purpose the challenge to all of you, write an NPC NCO, and in a department that you may never play before. Get a chance to explore, and have another department or character that you may not already play. Or, alternatively, I can build you all characters, and you can pick and play one. Whatever you are most comfortable.

That is all.

CAPT Minawara
